Meet our Trainer: Greg Nichols, Certified Personal Trainer and Kettlebell Instructor for the American Kettlebell Works.

In 2005, Certified Master Personal Trainer Greg Nichols attended a workshop that would forever change his view of personal fitness training.  The workshop was featuring a long-time, Russian training technique using a single unique tool – the Kettlebell. 

 The Kettlebell or “giyra” as the Russians call it can be described simply as a cast iron ball with a handle on it.  It comes in various weights and through a variety of movements will give you all the benefits of strength training and conditioning. 

In Russia, kettlebells are used to train special forces and military personnel.  In the United States, kettlebells are used to train everybody from mothers to elite athletes; football players to polar explorers. 

As with any strength and conditioning tool, one starts kettlebell training with basic introductory movements at a lower weight and then after a period of time, more complex routines are added with additional weight.  After a short amount of time, you will feel the benefits of stronger muscles, better posture, increased balance and weight loss.  According to Kettlebell Instructor Nichols, “Kettlebells are the ultimate tool for getting the lean, muscular look that so many people are looking for.  People of all ages are turning to kettlebells because despite the fact that they are hard work, kettlebells are fun!”  And they produce results. 

Mr. Nichols, co-owner of American Kettlebell Works, is a Master Personal Trainer and certified Russian Kettlebell instructor with personal training certifications from the National Personal Training Institute and American Council on Exercise, among others.  Greg received his Kettlebell Instructor Certification from Pavel Tsatsouline who is considered to be the top kettlebell instructor in the United States. 

 Greg utilizes his areas of expertise with clients in his personal training business. He personally trains people from student athletes to older adults utilizing body weight training, free weights, fitness center weight machines or kettlebells – whatever a client is most comfortable with and in the safest way.  “With each client, I evaluate their individual situation, develop a custom program and guide them through their fitness routine.  I work with each person to help them attain their own personal fitness goals.”
